Reflections on a Wandering Life.....
Thursday, August 16, 2012
Back in Beijing. Too hot, but it's good to be home. Hopefully autumn will be here soon. It's been a busy summer. Too busy. I visited too many people. But it actually worked out quite well, and I didn't have to spend a lot of money doing it. That's one of the best reasons I can think of for traveling in Western China. If you go by yourself and you can speak a little Mandarin, it doesn't cost that much more than staying in Beijing. Interesting, when I was at the South Bus Station in Lanzhou, getting ready to head up into the mountains, I ran into a fellow teacher who used to live in Beijing. It's amazing how many times something like that has happened to me--traveling somewhere in the western China, and I meet someone from Beijing that I haven't seen in years.
Went to the dentist, and he referred me to the stomatology clinic at Peking University. That's not a good sign. Well, we'll have to see. So far, I have been able to use my teeth like regular teeth, even though I do have several crowns. But I have several teeth with root problems. If two or three teeth next to each other are all unstable, it can be kinda hard to make a bridge.
